About Us
Tony and Keith are passionate about ensuring you rehabilitate and optimise your body and use joint injections as an adjunct to achieve this aim or when rehabilitation has failed.
Below we will talk a little more about steroid and hyaluronic acid, the evidence base and why or when we use one versus the other.
Using Injections in Orthopaedic medicine
The vast majority of our injections tend to be steroid injections as this is a powerful anti- inflammatory and can be used by people who are not improving with NSAID's or who cannot take these type of medicines. Usually we inject when pain and inflammation is not settling down or to relieve the pain of arthritis and degenerative conditions. This has to be used with caution and with a high level of understanding of all the pro's and con's as steroid is not without its own side effects and we use with caution. Ultimately we are usually trying to create a window of opportunity to calm pain and restore normal function.
