Shoulder Being Touched

Rotator Cuff Problems

The rotator cuff is a crucial group of four muscles (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis) and their surrounding tendons that stabilize the shoulder joint and enable movement.

Clinical Symptoms

Rotator cuff conditions range from mild tendinopathy and degenerative wear to partial-thickness and full-thickness tendon tears. Typical signs include:

  • Pain when lifting, lowering, or rotating the arm

  • Persistent ache when reaching overhead

  • Marked local weakness when holding the arm outward

  • Night pain hindering sleep on the affected side

Treatment & Realistic Expectations

Injection therapy can provide valuable pain relief for surrounding inflammatory changes, but a corticosteroid injection does not repair a torn tendon.

  • Hyaluronic Acid & Steroid Options: For tendinopathy or partial tears, we frequently employ hyaluronic acid injections to promote smooth tissue articulation and manage discomfort without compromising collagen strength. Corticosteroids may be considered selectively to damp down acute inflammatory flares.
